UTM => Collective Action
Interesting pot here in Network Security Journal about
united threat management (UTM).
It’s about devices that filter packets at network entrances.
On the one hand this is just fancy intrusion detection.
On the other, it’s a step towards collective action.
Mneh. I don’t consider an all-in-one appliance to be any more than a new marketing ploy.
Now, if you could plant those in front of ISPs to enforce traffic in both directions, THAT would start inching towards collective action. Collective action has to involve otherwise unaffiliated groups of defenders.
